Who the planters are and how they're involved with Trees That Count

We work with hundreds of experienced planters around Aotearoa New Zealand.

Updated over a week ago

Trees That Count does not plant trees directly. Instead, we connect the donation of native trees to important planting projects nationwide!

From community initiatives to schools, iwi, hapū, whānau efforts, farms, and local councils. Each project has unique biodiversity goals, leading to a truly diverse spread of goals, tree species and habitat. Great stuff.

People and groups across the country have visions of growing native forests. They seek our support for their tree-planting efforts. Our expert technical advisors/ecologists review each application carefully. They evaluate the applicants' expertise, considering the impact on local ecosystems and other key factors. We allocate donations from our website based on their guidance – giving to the most promising and impactful projects.

In return, our planters pledge to plant and care for these trees. They will also share progress through regular updates.

At our core, our focus is ensuring native trees are planted and nurtured for a high rate of survivability. For this, we require planters to monitor the seedlings and feed this information through to our team.

Do you have a planting project? You can learn more about this criteria within the application guide for planters page.
