How to apply for native trees

You can apply for native trees for your planting project through our website. This typically takes about 15 minutes as you let us know more about you/your team and your project.

  1. Register or log-in to add native trees you’ve planted to the count

  2. Tell us what's great about your project and how many trees you need

  3. We'll let you know if we can help, and ask you to get a quote from your preferred local nursery

  4. We approve the costs and usually pay your nursery direct

  5. You collect your trees from the nursery and get planting!

  6. You care for your trees and provide us with annual monitoring data (it's super easy!)

  7. We'll help promote your work. Make sure your planter profile is up to date so we can share your story

We want to ensure the projects we support are cared for by people who know how to plant, nurture and track growth of native trees.

Important information to know when applying for native trees

  • 2024 tree applications for planting projects are closed; 2025 applications are open until 1st September 2024.

  • We support permanent native forest projects and those enhancing biodiversity or community well-being.

  • Minimum funding is for 500 trees; not for landscaping or private gardens.

  • Applicants need a history of planting at least 500 native trees.

  • You need a planting plan for application eligibility.

  • Funding goes to nurseries, not as cash. Community nurseries can invoice us.

  • First-time applicants may receive funding for up to half of their annual planting plans.

  • Trees must be endemic to the planting area and eco-sourced.

  • Funded projects must provide monitoring data to ensure tree care. We welcome new project applications.
